The structure of the two types ball mill are basically the same.The only differences are as following:one is that the grate type with material discharging grate in the cylinder body while the overflow type with on material discharging grate; the other is that the former type has no reverse screw blade on the inner surface of the hollow shaft while the latter type has, which can let the small ball and coarse ore be returned and overflowed back to the mill.
The main differences
Grate ball mill discharge materila through the sieve plate. The overflow type ball mill has no sieve plate and it is get through the end scale board which is the same model as grinding head. For the overflow type,the level of discharging material is higher than the discharging mouth, overflowing automaticly.
The advantages and disadvantages of both
Advantages of grate type ball mill compared with the overflow type ball mill: low discharging mouth pulp surface, ore pulp can be rapidly passed, which can reduce the ore grinding; huge ball loading,both of large and small ball can be loaded, and the small ball will not be discharged; the capacity is higher and the power consumption is lower than the overflow type under the same conditions; high speed of discharging ore; the ability of avoiding over grinding.
Disadvantages of grate type: the structure is more complex; it is easier to plug grating, and more difficult to maintain； operation efficiency is relatively lower.
Advantage of overflow type ball mill: simple structure, convenient maintenance; large pieces of ore and steel ball is harder to discharge due to the discharge pipe casting with anti thread.
Disadvantages of grage type: unit volume production capacity is lower, so the capacity is lower; it is easier to appear the phenomenon of over grinding.
